Alongside the Shimanto River, which is famous for clear water, there is a Tōkawa Senka-shi workshop. In this Tohkawa village, there is a long history of Washi making imported technique from Iyo. But it was disappeared in some decades ago.
In 2004, Mr Hirano Naoto decided to revive the paper in his home and learnt Washi making from his grandmother, who was the master artisan.
The workshop is totally old style. No electricity is used except for lighting.
