This workshop has inherited its conviction and technique for 200 years. The 7th, Mr Nishida Seigi and the family keep making the same genuine papers as the ancestors made.
The paper using the local high-quality Kozo is highly trusted, especially by conservators, like the case of Kyoto Nijo-castle restoration.
On the other hand, they also make the paper for the historic festival "Kagura", ex: Mask, Clothes, Festival Car etc. That paper is required strength primary instead of smoothness and cleanness. So, they make it using also outer bark.
