In history, only five artisans were listed on the living national treasure of Washi. Mr Iwano Ichibei (9th) and his father (8th) are two of them. He is unquestionably the living legend. He is the only one who is an active living national treasure at present. And, because of his gentle character, everyone has a friendly feeling with respect. His work process is definitely maintaining the traditional, looks very inefficiency and unproductive. But he never changes the way to make genuine paper. That is his and the family's pride. His Echizen-Hosho paper is evaluated as the best of the best Washi at this present.
