Mr Shimizu Tadao is an old-style artisan, making Washi in winter only, simply maintaining the traditional method.
His rice field is covered by snow in the winter season. He spreads raw Kozo fibre on snow for bleaching. His paper is purely genuine Washi, fluffy and white.
He trained some young people to maintain Sanchu Washi history. We believe they will inherit his spirit of Washi making.
