Osada Seishisho mainly makes the paper for Fusuma(襖), which is a Japanese sliding door 200cmx110cm big. The beautiful papers are an important part of the traditional Japanese houses.
Mr Osada Kazuya is passionately challenging not only traditional paper but also modern artistic paper. Tennen-shi (天然紙=Natural paper) is one of his life-work. It is processed based on organic material with a genuine traditional method and added modern sense.
His mother, Eiko is also virtuosic artisan, listed in the “Contemporary Master Craftsman”. Recently, his daughter, Izumi joined the workshop. Three generations are tackling to create the future of Washi.
