The name Sanchū means “in the mountain”, here is definitely surrounded by mountains. In the winter season, there is heavy snow. So, people have been utilizing snow for Washi making. The raw Kozo fibre becomes whiter and softer after laid down on the snow in a few days. This is just traditional, but the best way for Washi fibre. Although it is tough and inefficiency work, The all of the four workshops cultivate Kozo and keep this traditional way.
