Here in winter, the village is covered by heavy snow, therefore indoor work for the winter season was encouraged through the history. In the Edo Period (1603-1868), Washi industry had been the major income source for the local government \u201cKaga-han\u201d. <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>They cultivate Kozo locally and keep making traditional paper.
