According to the legend, the Prince \u014cama (Emperor Tenmu, ?-AD686) taught the technique of papermaking to villagers. Although \u201cKuzu(<\/strong>\u56fd\u6816<\/strong>)\u201d area of Yoshino was papermaking village since very early. The neighbouring village \u201cUda(<\/strong>\u5b87\u9640<\/strong>)\u201d traders started selling their paper to widely Japan in 17C, then their paper was called \u201cUda-Gami\u201d.
\nAt present, Uda-gami and Misu-gami, which is made in this village, is the most important paper for conservation and restoration for the old pictures\/paints including the national treasures. <\/strong>\n
